If You Are an Overthinker

These are some basic things you can do when you find yourself overthinking. Overthinking is not only bad for your mental health, but it also physically drains you. This could eventually result in procrastination and inaction. So, to combat this bad habit, keep in mind the following when you find yourself overthinking:

  • Keep yourself busy. Unnecessary thoughts tend to arise more if we have too much free time in our hands.

  • Keep people around you so you not only enjoy your time with them, but you can share your thoughts and concerns.

  • Join clubs or groups. Meeting new people can open up new perspectives, and allow you to think less sensitively about certain things.

  • Note that simply demanding yourself to think less is not the way to combat overthinking. You must find practical methods or strategies.

  • Have some money in your bank account, so when you need time to hang out, travel or engage in various activities, that you may be able to do so without severe limitation.
