My First Time as a Personal Trainer

Updated: May 28, 2024

It is March 12, 2024 when I first started working as a personal trainer. I had no certificate at the time but the client wasn’t concerned with certification so long as each session was productive and helpful.

The client is a rather young guy in university whose main goal of workout was to increase his stamina for school. As someone very accustomed to teaching, I again prepped a bit prior to the first PT lesson and toured him passionately around the gym and taught him how to use some of the machine.

The first lesson consisted of various back exercises from lat pulldown, seated row, to assisted pull-ups. And I decided to stick with a 3-day split for him with back and shoulders, chest and arms, and legs the third day.

He is learning and absorbing quite well and it’s now a little past 2 months since he started getting PT lessons from me. Ever since the first lesson, we've been working out together 3 times a week! I’m recording this experience down as part of my list of accomplishments. Also, it is a way for me to remind myself how blessed I am to have this experience entrusted to me by God. God did!
